A Hidden Yakitori Gem in the Sky of Shijo

Nestled in Kyoto's Shijo, 'Torino Koji Yamagishi' is a small stage for experiencing the depth of yakitori through all five senses. Each skewer crafted by Chef Yamagishi pays homage to the Kagoshima black Satsuma chicken 'Kuro-O' and the Kyoto Akajidori, infused with a warm spirit of hospitality. The aroma of Kishu Binchotan charcoal, the umami that expands with each bite, and the lingering finish guided by a cup of sake—this is a time filled with quiet exhilaration.

Our Culinary Commitment

Using Satsuma's 'Kuro Satsuma Chicken Kuro-O' and Kyoto's Akachidori, we carefully grill each skewer one by one over Kishu Binchotan charcoal. The skewers are characterized by cuts that do not use internal organs, featuring parts like neck, thigh, wing, and tsukune, which can be enjoyed with side dishes of grated daikon and kelp salt flavor. For the finale, we offer Chinese noodles in chicken soup, chicken rice, and even desserts like yuzu sorbet, available in both course and à la carte options.

Experience the Flames and Aroma Up Close, Exclusively Enjoying the Scenery of Kyoto

The sense of openness brought by the glass walls on the upper floors. While overlooking the streets of Kyoto below, you can experience the heat and aroma rising from the central grill in an intimate setting with only eight counter seats. In a calm space like a hidden retreat, you can enjoy even the fleeting expressions of the grilled chicken as it cooks—this sense of presence is the true delicacy of this restaurant.

History

Yamakishi in Kyoto, A New Challenge for Yakitori

"Tori no Koji Yamakishi" is the latest store of the Kyoto Yamakishi Group, which was born on February 23, 2025. The parent brand "Tomikoji Yamakishi," led by Takahiro Yamagishi, has been innovating while respecting the traditions of Kyoto cuisine since its opening in October 2015. Inheriting that spirit, we refine the aesthetic of Kyoto and the Japanese art of fire through the medium of yakitori.
